Event Description
The Institute for Blue Economy and Innovation – East Africa (IBEI) participated in the Environment & Climate Resilience Public–Private Working Group Meeting convened by the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development (MoPIED).
The meeting brought together government institutions, private sector representatives, and development partners to engage in dialogue on climate resilience, sustainable investment, and private sector–led solutions aligned with Somalia’s National Transformation Plan (NTP 2025–2030).
IBEI was represented by Fuad Mohamed Wardhere, Secretary General of IBEI, who contributed to discussions during the private sector–led session, emphasizing the importance of Blue Economy approaches. Key focus areas included sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, protection of coastal and marine ecosystems, marine and coastal waste management, and youth employment through green and blue livelihoods.
The engagement reaffirmed IBEI’s commitment to collaborating with public and private stakeholders to advance climate-smart, inclusive, and sustainable development across East Africa.
