The Institute for Blue Economy and Innovation – East Africa marked World Wetlands Day
by highlighting the critical role of wetlands in biodiversity conservation and
ecosystem sustainability.
As part of its commitment to environmental protection, IBEI emphasized the importance
of mapping biodiversity and ecosystem services to identify, protect, and restore
vital coastal ecosystems, including wetlands such as mangrove forests.
The engagement raised public awareness on the value of wetlands in supporting
livelihoods, climate resilience, and sustainable coastal development.
